Open mid-May - last Saturday in October.

Wednesday - Saturday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Guided tours are offered at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m.

Self guided tours are available at any time during regular tour hours (last tour admission sold at 3pm) 

School and Group Tours are available year round by appointment. Group rates available.

Note: Bus and RV drivers must use exit 9 due to a low overhead bridge on Rte. 85

From points east:
From I-95N and I-95S, take exit 2 to Route 101 west. Take exit 10, “Exeter/Newfields, Rte. 85.” Left at top of exit ramp onto Newfields Rd. and follow to end. Turn left onto Water Street. American Independence Museum is on the right.

From points west:
Take exit 9, “Exeter/Rte. 27.” Right at top of exit ramp onto Rte. 27/Epping Rd. Follow into downtown Exeter. Epping Rd. becomes Water St. American Independence Museum is on right after Phillips Exeter Academy campus.

Access/Parking:

Access to the museum is via Water Street or Center Street. Center Street is on the right just past the museum and People’s United Bank.

Parking around the museum is limited. Free parking is available in the museum’s visitor lot, which is located on the corner of Spring and Water streets. Two-hour parking is also available along Water Street. Parking is available ONLY on Saturdays after noon in the two lots nearest the museum entrance; these belong to People’s United Bank.
