History on the Run is a new joint partnership between the American Independence Museum and the Exeter Historical Society designed to bring awareness to our local community of the many historic sites and structures in Exeter, New Hampshire. The first event is scheduled for June 6th at 5:30 pm and is designed to attract area athletes and athletic enthusiasts for a go-at-your-own pace 3 mile loop run which starts and ends at the Folsom Tavern and passes by the historic sites of String Bridge, the Mills, the Powder House, Swasey Parkway and more. Participants may chose to run or walk the route, a map with more information on each of the sites will be provided.
Sponsored by George and Phillips, the event will also include a free gait analysis for each participant with thanks to the Center for Orthopaedics and Movement at Exeter Hospital. Representatives from the YMCA will also be on hand, demonstrating a few yoga techniques that are especially great for the avid runner. All are sure to enjoy the Tavern atmosphere at the end of the run. There is no charge for this event, and registration is required. Both the American Independence Museum and the Exeter Historical Society would benefit from a suggested donation of $10 per runner.
