Join us for our Annual Signature events!
Each year we offer the chance for Exeter residents to be one of the first to see our new exhibits and participate in hands-on learning about the Revolutionary War era. Learn the history of the Revolutionary War thru the lens of the Ladd-Gilman House. Experience the Children’s Exhibit at the Folsom Tavern. Learn more about the new exhibits through guided tours from our graduate interns.
Celebrate the tradition of this outdoor painting style, as we partner with other art associations and groups in an effort to promote art and Exeter itself in this annual full day event. Enjoy artists painting every corner of downtown Exeter and then visit the Tavern in the afternoon for a public sale, where a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Museum’s many educational programs.
Without any doubt, our premier signature event is our annual American Independence Festival, which welcomes thousands of visitors every year. Featuring historic battle re-enactments, colonial demonstrations, games, children’s activities, cannon firings, crafts, music, food and more, the Festival helps people of all ages experience Revolutionary History today.

Celebrate the end of our season with a toast at our Annual Holiday Celebration sponsored by Service Credit Union at Folsom Tavern. See what the holiday season was like back in Revolutionary War times and enjoy Colonial Era décor, a silent auction, food and drinks! Listen to the beautiful sounds of carolers or try your hand at handmade Colonial holiday gifts.
We are accepting Toys for Tots this year during our celebration! Bring a new, unwrapped toy to help bring joy to children around New Hampshire this holiday season.
