L’Enfant Medal for the Society of the Cincinnati

What does the man who designed Washington DC (not to mention the remodel of Federal Hall in New York and the designs for Paterson, New Jersey and Fort Washington) have to do with the Society of the Cincinnati?  And what was the purpose of this watercolor painting of a Society of the Cincinnati insignia – especially as this design wasn’t produced until the 1970s?

Click on the picture below of the man who called himself ‘Peter Charles’ L’Enfant, in honor of his adopted country, to find out more about his background and achievements.
