Become a Volunteer
From working in our Gift Shop to assisting us at special events, mailings, gardening and more, there are many ways to volunteer at the Museum. Read below for more details and to fill out a very brief form so we may contact you to discuss your interest.
Take visitors on guided tours or answer questions as people tour the Museum on their own. Guiding opportunities are available May through November and in the off-season for group tours. Tours last about 1 to 1½ hours and involve standing, walking and climbing stairs.

Do you like working with kids? Become an educator! Teach focused educational programs and give tours to visiting school groups. Tours involve standing, walking and climbing stairs.

Are you a “people person”? Consider working in our Museum Shop, greeting visitors, and selling admission tickets, memberships and merchandise. This job includes operating a cash register and credit card machine. Between visitors help keep the shop stocked and tidy. Please see our Shop Associate Job Description for more information.
American Independence Festival
In order for our 27th American Independence Festival on July 15, 2017 to be successful, we need the help of more than 100 individual volunteers in the days leading up to the event and on the Festival day itself. Commit to 4 hours at the event, or help plan the event this winter and spring!
Long Term volunteers are classified as those who volunteer a minimum of one day a week for the duration of the museum season. They are entitled to the following benefits:
