Initiatives

PRESERVING DEMOCRACY is central to the purpose of the American Independence Museum. When delegates agreed to the draft of the United States Constitution in 1787, Benjamin Franklin famously described the new country as “a republic, if you can keep it”.

LIVING HISTORY encourages everyone to learn more about our shared heritage through active engagement with artifacts, interpreters, structures, and topics that bring to life our colonial, revolutionary, and later history.

This initiative supports our efforts to engage older adults. Led by an advisory council in which older adults help us develop programs specifically designed for them, this initiative comes alive in our Older Adult Traveling Trunk program.

This initiative supports the development of experiences and educational curricula for several events and programs that are available both on-site and digitally. Events and programs that fall under this initiative include Homeschool Programs, Youth Traveling Trunk, Field Trips, Revolutionary Story Time, and Camp Programs.
