Top 5 reasons
To Volunteer at AIM

#1 Become part of a community. Volunteers agree the best part of volunteering is making connections with fellow history-lovers by working closely with staff, other volunteers, and visitors.

#2 Get up close and personal with history. Volunteers work onsite in the museum’s two historic buildings surrounded by fascinating architecture, thought-provoking exhibits, and unique collection.

#3 Play a part in uncovering the hidden past. Volunteers help magnify diverse experiences of New Hampshire residents during the American Revolution by weaving new research into daily tours

#4 Learn something new every day. Volunteers can easily access the museum’s library and archives to conduct individual research, or explore the historic buildings and collections with staff experts.

#5 Earn benefits for supporting the museum. Volunteers are offered annual guest passes, museum shop discounts, field trips, invitations to special events, and private socials in appreciation of the time they give to the museum.

Volunteer Testimonials

“My favorite part of volunteering is sharing stories about things at the museum. I love how we incorporate diversity and other perspectives into the tour. It is so rewarding to see people get excited about history.”

– Kathy Jackson, Tour Guide

“I enjoy working at AIM because I can share history of New Hampshire with the tourists that come through. I also enjoy working with the others at AIM. I like the fact that we have actual historical buildings and artifacts.”

– Dana Holleran, Tour Guide

“The best part about volunteering as a tour guide is talking about history all day and no one thinks it’s weird. The next best part is the other volunteers. Everyone is great to work with.”

– Elizabeth Blanchard, Tour Guide & Museum Shop Manager

“I’d say my favorite part of volunteering is the history—exploring the content and discussing it with visitors. I do enjoy studying American history, so working at the museum is a great fit.”

– Heo, Joonyoung, Tour Guide
