Governors Lane is the first ‘step’ in our Master Landscape plan, a grand vision to beautify and connect our entire campus. Comprised of historic Ladd-Gilman House and Folsom Tavern, our campus is a unique and picturesque area in a prominent downtown location.

Create a Legacy

Your gift of $1,500 to purchase a granite step on Governors Lane Step will:

Celebrate your family’s or company’s commitment to our history – please provide no more than 20 characters of text to be engraved.
Assist us in additional landscape projects around the American Independence Museum property including immediate drainage upgrades as well as continued beautification efforts.

Your gift will be specifically designated to our landscape and will not support our general operations.

Join us

Our goal is to make our campus welcoming, inviting and safe for all. To date, we have repaired a crumbling stone wall and removed extensive overgrowth.

The next phases of the Master Landscape plan include a thoughtful landscaping and installation of permanent structures. A pathway to connect the two buildings is now complete.

We will also add signage that points out the historic significance of our campus and how well the museum, Society of Cincinnati, Town of Exeter and most importantly YOU have worked together in the community to preserve our history.
