Engaging Older Adults

Initiative Overview

This initiative, rooted in Revolutionary History, is specifically geared toward actively engaging and supporting older adults. Guided by an advisory council composed of older adults, the initiative ensures that programs are thoughtfully designed to meet the unique needs and preferences of this demographic. The collaborative nature of the advisory council, enriched by diverse perspectives, enhances the initiative’s responsiveness to the interests and requirements of older adults.

A noteworthy component of this initiative is the Older Adult Traveling Trunk program, which serves as a dynamic and interactive platform infused with historical significance. The traveling trunk concept represents a mobile and flexible approach, allowing the initiative to reach older adults in various settings and communities. This hands-on program includes a curated collection of materials, activities, and resources that not only cater to the interests and well-being of older adults but also integrate elements of Revolutionary History, providing a unique and enriching historical context.

Examples of programs and events in this initiative include the American Independence Festival, Beer for History, Tavern Talks, and more,
